Aims and Scope
Journal of Current Pediatrics is an international, free from bias, peer-rewieved, and independent periodical journal published in Turkish and English languages in the field of pediatrics. It is a quarterly journal published in March, June, September and December.
Journal of Current Pediatrics oriented toward publishing original research in the field of pediatrics as an international, qualified, and continuous journal. The content of the journal is intended to encompass reviews of the new developments on education, editorial brief manuscripts, case reports, original photographs, the letters regarding the experiences of pediatricians, and special feature articles in the field of social pediatrics.
Journal of Current Pediatrics will make some arragements to serve the readers of general medical profession as well as pediatricians on the subjects that “they must know”.
Subscriptions
Journal of Current Pediatrics is provided to all pediatricians and academicians working in Turkey free of charge. All past issues can be reached in internet via www.guncelpediatri.com without charge. Individual subscribers should apply to Publisher directly.

Denial of Responsibility
The author is defined as a contributor who has participated in the work to the extent that he takes responsibilitiy for a meaningful share of the manuscript’s content published in Journal of Current Pediatrics. Editor, Editorial Board or Publisher don’t share the responsibility.

Journal of Current Pediatrics publishes original articles, reviews, case reports, letters to the editor and brief communications on all aspects of pediatrics.
1- The manuscript admitted to be published should have original and scientific findings and ideas, and achieve academically high-degree.
2- All manuscripts sent to be published in the journal should contain previously unpublished original research and they should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. The previously announced manuscripts in a congress are accepted in case of the editorial board is being informed.
3- The letter of application to the editor should define that manuscripts have been submitted solely to Journal of Current Pediatrics and have not been previously published, and should be signed by all authors.
4- The authors should take responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole, and editor or publisher can’t be held responsible from the manuscript. There is no copyright transfer for the manuscripts sent to the journal.
5- All manuscripts submitted to be published should follow the editorial rules of the journal. Publication of articles are decided by at least two peer-review. Editor may seek the evaluation of other peer-rewiev authorities in respect of texture of the subject. Unpublished studies would not be a subject of return.
6- Editorial board held the rights not to publish, to return to the author for additional revision and to correct the manuscripts that do not follow the rules. Authors shoud agree that all manuscripts are subject to editorial changes unless no basic changes would be exerted in manuscript.
7- Publishing languages are Turkish and English. All manuscripts should comply with the dictionary and new spelling dictionary of Turkish Language Institute. Anatomical terminology should be based on Latin nomenculature. Daily used medical terms are written according to Turkish spelling rules. The original words required to be written in their main language by the author are embodied within quotation marks. Abbrevations may be used throughout the manuscript after the first mention and identification.
8- Any author can’t be a subject of more than three published manuscript in one issue.
9- Authors should indicate that the experimental, clinical and drug studies are in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee and international declarations. Also, the informed consent of custodian should be declared in this section. The resources of financial support and technical assistance, specifying the nature of support, should be explained on footnotes.
Editorial Rules
- The articles to be sent should be prepared in triplicate including photographs, tables and graphs, and be written in Times New Roman with font size of 11 and double-spaced on one side of paper of size A4. The peer-rewiev version should not contain the name of authors as well as their addresses. The manuscripts will be sent together with a 3.5 inch disquette whereupon the article should be prepared in IBM compatible processors (Microsoft Windows, at least Word 98).
- There should be 2.5 cm wide margins on both sides of pages and the pages should be arranged in numerical order beginning from the initial page. There should be a number at the bottom right corner of every page. The length of original articles should not exceed 16 pages, whereby rewievs should be kept within the limits of not more than 10, case reports 8 and letters to the editor 2 pages.
Initial Page
- Title of manuscript (compatible with content, and short)
- English title of manuscript,
- The authors’ given names and last names should be written and academic degrees should be given with asteriks on footnotes.
- The name and the address of a clinic, department, institute or foundation from which the study come.
- Authors should indicate whether the study have been announced previously as an abstract in any congress or symposium.
- Corresponding address: The name of the corresponding author should be given in addition to complete mailing address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address.
- Acknowledgment can take part in this section.
Second (and/or third) page
- Abstract: There should be Turkish and English abstracts of approximately 150 words, and English title and abstract should be equivalent to Turkish title and abstract. The abstract should include the objectives and methods of the study and the detailed data crucial to arriving at their final conclusions. The abstract must give the objective of the study and the result of the study on the first and the last pages respectively. It should emphasise the new and important aspects of the study and rewievs.
Main Context
Original research papers should follow the traditional structure of research articles, including sections for introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, and references whereas case reports should include introduction, case(s) report(s), discussion, and references.
1- Introduction: This section should explain the objectives of the study and the reason of the examination or investigation, but not include the data of the research, and final conclusions.
2- Materials and Methods: For human or animal experimental investigations, formal approval by an ethics committee is required and should be described in the Methods section. For established methods the references should be given and the methods that are not well known should be provided by brief descriptions.
Statistical Analyses: Statistical analysis techniques used should be explained in the last part of Methods section, including the descriptions of values following (+) sign after arithmetic mean and ratio.
3- Results: Every table should be exhibited on a seperate page with its title and footnotes. They should be provided with Roman numerical data, citing in consecutive order in manuscript. Uncommon abbrevations should be explained on footnotes. All figures (illustration, graph and photographs) should be provided numerically considering their consecutive location in manuscript and their related footnotes should be noted consecutively in a different page.
4- Discussion: The purpose of the discussion is to interpret the results and to relate them to original hypothesis and existing knowledge in the literature.
5- References: Literature references must be -in consecutive series by order of mention in the text, and be parenthesized. The complete list of references should be typed in the script of original reference. All abbrevations should be incorporated in Index Medicus and Science Citation Index.
Periodics:
Titles of journal abbreviated according to the style of Index Medicus, printed annually in the January issue of Index Medicus. While all authors are declared in manuscript written by up to six authors, only the first three of them are mentioned and the others follow as “et al” in manuscript with seven or more authors. Complete title of manuscript, year of publication, volume and the number of pages follow the authors’ names.

Books:
The chapter of the book: References should follow the order given below: The names of initial there authors, full title of article, editors, title of the book, volume no and number of the issue, city, publisher, year of publication and page numbers of the article.

Original page number is used for the book, which has just an author.

Congress abstracts should follow the rules given below:

Unpublished observations and individual interwievs can not be used as references. The references accepted to be published but not published yet are determined as “in print”. Further information about references is available on the web site of International Commitee of Medical Journal Editors” ( www.icmje.org).
6- Photographs, Figures and Tables : Photographs should be saved in three different envelops. They should be arranged -in consecutive series by order of mention in the text. Footnotes should be written with small letters in a different page. Numerical order, surname of the first author, and the initial letters of the title of manuscript are written on the back side of a photograph, and the upper side of the photograph is marked with an arrow. Graphs should be of sufficient size that when reduced for publication each item will still be legible. The letters should be written with font size of 8. The spaces should be 8-9 cm or 16-17 cm wide. Graphics should be professionally drawn and grey colour should be avoided to use. When a part of the paper has been cited from another publication, then the written consent should be sent together. Tables should be prepared to describe the content and not repeat the text. All abbrevations should be explained at the bottom.
Special Sections
7- Rewievs: They should contain the last developments in related area and the developments in our country, preferably including the experince and/or literature findings of the authors who published manuscripts in this area. The references should be limited with 50 sources.
8- Case reports: They should be spesific and instructive. The abstract should not exceed 100 words and the references should be kept within the limits of 15 sources.
9- Letters to the editor: They argue the importance of the published manuscript, and ignore the details, or failures. They don’t have title or sections, and have not more than 5 references. The name of the author and complete address are stated at the end of the letter. Only the authors of original text and/or the editor can decide to reply the letters.
